There is no doubt that there were many horrendous, surprising, crazy events in World War II, but were there also UFOs in L.A?
During the night of February 24th into the 25th of 1942 lights made the dark sky bright in southern California. This as expected created confusion, fear and amazement. In reality the navy issued a warning on the 24th of possible attack expected within ten hours. Defense plants lit up the sky with blinking lights and flares; with no activity the alert was then lifted. Activity then resumed in the sky in the early morning of the 25th. Radars picked up an unidentified target 120 miles west of Los Angeles. After hours of tracking nothing was found.
They now believe all the confusion came from the first alert. What was thought to be "enemy planes" may have been confused with anti-aircraft shell bursts that were caught by spotlights. In the meantime, there were hundreds to thousands of reports of all sorts of sightings. Including, UFOS, enemy planes, balloons, believed to be all sorts of sizes, shapes and going all sorts of speeds. When the sun rose, all rumors were laid to rest. The only resulting damage was caused by the excitement of the city of all the people in Los Angeles. There was at least one death from heart failure, traffic accidents in the blacked-out streets, or by shell fragments from the artillery barrage.
